Pfizer Pakistan Celebrates Women’s Day 2014

March 8, 2014 -Pfizer Pakistan Celebrates International Women’s Day for Women’s Health. We wish to emphasize the importance of the commitments made by the international community to women's health.

Although progress has been made towards improving women's health and well being, important gaps still remain in meeting these objectives. Worldwide, women still have fewer opportunities to achieve the highest attainable standards of health as compared to men. Women are at the risk of experiencing greater suffering from the social and economic determinants of health. Women have less access to good healthcare and they remain more vulnerable to certain diseases, disabilities, and risks.

“Today, we invite women to continue to raise their voices, show their strength to take their own decisions, and to lead a movement for the more equitable awareness and resources to shape the health of the woman in Pakistan. Pfizer Pakistan is playing a crucial role in creating and providing health solutions to all the women of Pakistan, and emphasizes the importance of health of a woman.” Dr. Farid Khan. Country Manager, Pfizer Pakistan

We also propose that every individual demonstrates the commitment to women by implementing mechanisms for independent accountability—the monitoring, participatory review, and remedying of deficiencies for the health of women.

“Women are like the building block of our society and cannot be neglected due to their less power and authority. Their efforts are hardly recognized and appreciated. Mostly working behind the scenes without credit. She is not only responsible for continuation of generations but play a pivotal role in the family. Working for her husband, children, parents, and for nation in each and every field of life. Though she is the most vital organ of the society but still striving for her basic rights such as food, health, education, equality, power and domestic violence. Let’s join our hands together to struggle for women's rights. I also want to give tribute to the women who have gained some position in society through education and hard work. Message for all women and especially to Gynecologists’ is to help women not only at your work places but everywhere in the society. It is our social obligation and responsibility.” Dr. Prof. Dr. Tasneem Ashraf - President Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologists of Pakistan (SOGP)
